Dr Peter G Vickers

Dr Vickers originally hails from Sydney but has trained in Adelaide, Australia; the UK and USA. He is qualified in the fields of Medicine and Dentistry, specialising in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. His surgery training encompassed craniofacial surgery, head and neck surgery, oral surgery, reconstructive surgery, trauma surgery, cosmetic surgery and dental surgery including dental implants.
Dr Vickers has undertaken extensive head and neck cancer surgery, cleft lip and palate surgery in Southeast Asia having worked in Malaysia for three years. He was an inaugural fellow of The Australian College of Cosmetic Surgery. In 1989 he pioneered free tissue transfer in the Australian National Capital with the first free, vascularised tissue transfer for tongue reconstruction.
Dr Vickers holds Fellowships in Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, England and Australia and has a certificate of residency training from the examination board of the Louisiana State University, USA. He has extensive experience in gunshot wounds from his training in trauma surgery in New Orleans. Dr Vickers had undertaken teaching as Director of The Maxillofacial Unit at Macquarie University Hospital in Sydney, Australia from 2010 to 2017.
His recreational interests include golf and water sports. He enjoys camping and generally keeps fit by training for marathons having done the New York, London, Berlin, Paris and 3 mountain marathons in New Zealand. He has been awarded the Australian Defence Medal for military service.
