Kamran is a Urologist and a Genitourinary Oncologist, with fellowship training in management of urological malignancies and robotic surgery. Kamran has further experience in treating renal stones and voiding dysfunction including Laser surgery and HOLEP.
He graduated from Otago Medical School and completed urological training in New Zealand, before spending a year of fellowship in Australia. He has also completed an MD (Thesis) in Auckland in 2010. Following this he spent two additional years of fellowship training in Moffitt Cancer Centre, Tampa, Florida, which is ranked amongst the best cancer hospitals in the United States. While at Moffitt, he gained valuable experience in open and robotic surgery, assessment and treatment of complex urological malignancies.
Kamran is also actively involved in research and teaching and has an appointment as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Surgery at the University of Auckland. He has also completed a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree at the University of Auckland, and has undertaken fulltime research in the United States, working with prominent academics in the field of urologic cancers. He has published over 70 peer reviewed original articles, review papers, invited commentaries and book chapters, and is an editorial board member and reviewer for a number of urological journals.
